Exam 3D2 2014: High Poly Vehicle

RELATED TOPICS

The final assignment of the course 3D2 (first year students) is modeling a high poly vehicle using subdivision modeling techniques. Being in control of your 3D model is very important and some strict rules need to be followed to get the desired result.

Another important aspect is the light setup. Since the vehicle had to be placed in a studio environment the students mostly used skyportals. Once the light setup was done materials were next. Procedural materials were created in combination with custome made images for stickers or dirt. Occasionally parts had to be unwrapped to paint the color information onto the model but most of the time planar mapping was sufficient.

These were created in 3dsMax and rendered in Mental Ray.
